About the College

The College operates under the aegis of Vidya Prasarak Mandal, a renowned educational trust with a legacy of over 60 years in Mulund East. Established in 2003, the institution is dedicated to providing higher education, particularly to students from socially and economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Affiliated with the University of Mumbai, the College has earned the prestigious NAAC 'A' grade accreditation and is the only institution of its kind in the vicinity affiliated with the esteemed University of Mumbai.

As a Kannada minority institution, the College primarily caters to the educational needs of the Kannada minority community while also welcoming students from diverse backgrounds. Its focus on holistic education promotes critical and independent thinking.

Academic Programs: The College offers traditional undergraduate programs in Arts, Science, and Commerce alongside professional courses such as BAMMC, B.Sc. IT, B.Sc. CS, BMS, BBI, and BAF.

Infrastructure and Facilities: The College is equipped with modern infrastructure, including well-furnished classrooms, a library, advanced computer laboratories, and a playground. It also emphasizes extracurricular activities to foster overall student development. The NSS unit, comprising 150 volunteers, organizes various initiatives to instill social responsibility among students. Financial assistance is available to eligible students through government scholarships. Additionally, the College has established several support cells and committees, including the Students' Grievance Redressal Cell, Anti-Ragging Committee, Students' Council, Cultural Committee, Sports Committee, Extension Committee, Placement Cell, and Alumni Association.

Faculty and Student Engagement: The faculty comprises highly qualified and dedicated members, many of whom hold doctoral degrees or are actively pursuing Ph.D. programs. The staff is actively involved in research endeavours. Serving a large and diverse student body, the College continuously enhances its academic environment with ICT-enabled classrooms, advanced laboratories, and modern computer facilities. Free Wi-Fi access is provided to students to support their academic pursuits.

At VPM's R.Z. Shah College, we believe that education transcends the mere accumulation of knowledge.
